Theatre by the lake Keswick - Othello
3rd - 5th March

JEALOUSY AND BETRAYAL IN MODERN VERSION OF OTHELLO

THE heat of the Mediterranean reaches the Theatre by the Lake in Keswick next week when Concentric Circles present their modern dress production of Othello.
Emotions run high in this lively version of Shakespeare's classic, set first in the bustling city of a timeless Venice and then on Cyprus, where the action unfolds in the army barracks where Othello's troops are quartered.
A tale of passion, betrayal and jealousy, this contemporary Othello captures the energy and action of Shakespeare's text, as the characters are drawn in a downward spiral towards tragedy.
The play runs from Monday until Wednesday.

ONE of Britain's newest theatre companies, Concentric Circles, visits Keswick for the first time with their production of Othello.
The marriage between Othello, a powerful military man, and the beautiful Desdemona destroys the friendship between the general and his loyal lieutenant Iago.
Considered one of Shakespeare's greatest tragedies, yet rarely performed outside the major national companies, this moving and poetic work is an overwhelming account of sexual jealousy.

Othello runs from Monday, March 3 until Wednesday, March 5 at 7.30pm at Theatre by the Lake. Tickets are £12.50 and £10. Groups of 10 or more can gain admission for £8 each. To book call (017687) 74411.
