Birthday celebrations can lead to hangovers from hell, as Cliff (Billy Geraghty) and Liz (Rosalind March) discover on the morning after their party night out with Isobel (Sally Edwards).
But before Liz's flatmate Allie (Dawn McDaniel) can administer the intravenous coffee and paracetemol, she herself is off to see the doctor about her persistent headaches.
Though Allie's symptoms give Sam (Mandana Jones) cause for concern, her own domestic problems are weighing on her mind.
"I'm so scared I've lost him," Sam confides in Isobel after another breakfast row with husband Ravi (Ayub Khan Din). "He's like a stranger."
Cliff's headaches are unlikely to improve with Noel's (Alan Cooke) tip-off that the case against Claire Turner, Nick's self-confessed killer, is likely to be thrown out after psychiatric reports on her.
"If they throw Claire's confession out, and they will, it proves I was right all along. One week and Cliff Lewis will be behind bars," he tells Diane (Ellen Thomas).
This episode is written by Duncan Gould and directed by Charles Lauder. The producer is Nicolas Brown; executive producer is Sharon Bloom. LONDON BRIDGE is a Carlton programme.
