Mandana Jones

WEDNESDAY 15 OCTOBER 1997

Allie (Dawn McDaniel) and Sam (Mandana Jones) are ready to make new starts in the medical world.
It's her first day at college for Allie, and Sean (Jay Lewis) is only too happy to run her there in his camper van - if the engine will splutter into life.
Home from her blissful honeymoon with Ravi, Sam is back at the surgery after the trauma of being held captive there by Claire.
But the shadow of the case brought against Sam for negligence still hangs over the doctor.
Cliff (Billy Geraghty) doesn't want Lucy to be indebted to Freddie (Nicholas Pritchard) who has promised to lend her the money to get rid of the loan sharks.
But Freddie stands his ground, explaining that his agreement with the young girl is only verbal.
Dave (Reginald Tsiboe) and Diane's (Ellen Thomas) tickets for the trip home to Ghana arrive, emphasising just how soon they will be off on their travels. "No stopping us now," Dave tells his brother Noel (Alan Cooke).

This episode is written by Andrew Rattenbury and directed by Matt McConaghy.

Familiar faces are back in Bermondsey - to the delight of some and the consternation of others.
With no prior warning to his family, Dave Symmons (Reginald Tsiboe) has returned from Ghana after a two-month absence, unaware of his wife's affair with his brother.
Who will Dave hear the truth from - his daughter Kim (Kemi Baruwa), the gossiping neighbours or even Diane (Ellen Thomas) and Noel (Alan Cooke) themselves?
Returning from her break in Cornwall, Liz (Rosalind March) is back a new woman, having given up cigarettes and alcohol, and taken stock of her situation.
In her new mood of optimism, she even agrees to join Isobel (Sally Edwards) at the family Christmas lunch, and toasts the plan in mineral water.
Allie's (Dawn McDaniel) family Christmas awaits her in Manchester, and though Sean (Jay Lewis) is keen to help load her luggage into the taxi, it is his father Freddie (Nicholas Pritchard) who gives her a Christmas present as she drives away.
Auntie Meena (Leena Dhingra) is still staying with Sam and Ravi, but for how much longer can Sam (Mandana Jones) keep her temper with Ravi's relative?
